Intensive therapy

Stop managing the symptoms. Get to the root — and actually change it. Fast.

Weekly therapy isn’t always the right answer.

You’ve got a full schedule, high standards, and a low tolerance for wasted time. Showing up once a week to rehash the same ground — stopping just when things get real — isn’t how you operate in any other area of your life. Why would therapy be different?

Intensives are built for people who are ready to do the real work and want to do it efficiently. In a few focused days, you can move further than most people move in a year of weekly sessions.

You might be here because:

  • You’ve tried weekly therapy and the progress is too slow or too fragmented

  • A specific event, relationship breakdown, or pattern has finally hit a breaking point

  • Your schedule simply doesn’t accommodate a long-term weekly commitment

  • You want real change — not incremental, not someday, but now

Whether you’re an entrepreneur whose stress and reactivity are bleeding into your closest relationships, an executive whose personal life is quietly draining the focus you need professionally, or someone who’s just done carrying something they’re ready to put down — intensive therapy was designed for you.

What is Intensive Therapy?

Understanding the core principles and approach of intensive therapy.

Intensive therapy is exactly what it sounds like — concentrated, immersive, and built for people who are serious about getting somewhere. Instead of spreading the work across months of weekly sessions, you dedicate a block of time to go deep, move fast, and walk away with real change.

The difference is momentum. A standard session loses its first and last few minutes to check-in and wrap-up — leaving maybe 30 minutes of real depth work. Intensives remove that stop-start rhythm entirely. You go further in a day or two than most people go in months.

I use Relational Life Therapy, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy — chosen specifically because they work fast, go deep, and produce changes that last.

Stop managing it. Get to the root — and change it. Fast.

How intensive therapy works

Intensives are concentrated therapy sessions designed to deliver accelerated results.

  • Therapy intensives help clients go deeper and get results faster. Rather than stopping and starting in 1-hour blocks every week, intensives allow you to set aside a larger chunk of time to do the deep work necessary to achieve real, long-lasting change. This is a cutting-edge, research-backed approach to therapy. Our work together will be focused, in-depth, and personalized to you & your goals.

  • Intensives encompass a number of different sessions and avenues for support. We’ll customize each of the following based on your needs:

    • Consult: We’ll start with a 20-minute consultation call to ensure this model is the right fit for you, and that I’m the right counselor to support you. During this time, we’ll also determine the length and number of intensive sessions you are likely to need. This can always be adjusted later, if needed.

    • Pre-Intake: You’ll complete a detailed intake packet sharing about your background, current challenges, and goals.

    • Intake Session: We’ll meet for an intake session to review additional information and create a detailed plan, including goals and outcome measures to ensure we can accurately track your progress.

    • Plan: I’ll craft a customized plan combining talk therapy, Relational Life Therapy, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy to help you achieve deep healing.

    • Intensive Session(s): We’ll meet for the selected number of sessions. They can occur in-person in my office in Roseville, on-site at a vacation rental or other venue within a 10-mile radius of Granite Bay, or online anywhere in CA and TX.

    • Post-Intensive Session: To measure your progress, debrief, and ensure you feel well-equipped to integrate your new insights into daily life, we will meet for a post-intensive session.

    • A detailed intake questionnaire

    • An interactive intensive treatment workbook (much like a personal workbook to collect your thoughts before, during, and after)

    • A customized plan incorporating Brainspotting, accelerated resolution therapy, and relational talk therapy suited to your goals and desired outcomes

    • Specialized support every step of the way

How Intensive Therapy Works

A closer look at the process for individuals and couples.

From our first session, we’re working with purpose and direction. I’ll be direct with you about what I’m observing — the patterns, the stuck places, the things you might have been working around for years. It’s not harsh, it’s empathic and efficient. Clarity is the fastest path to change.

Using Relational Life Therapy, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, we work at the source of what’s driving the patterns — not just the surface behavior. These approaches are specifically chosen because they access what talk therapy alone often can’t reach, and they work in a fraction of the time.

You’ll leave with more than just insight. Most clients describe a noticeable internal shift — a sense of things actually moving — that feels different from anything they’ve experienced in traditional therapy. That’s the point.

Deeper work.

Faster results.

Intensives aren't just a different format — they're often a smarter investment. A single 3-hour intensive covers ground that typically takes months of weekly sessions. When you factor in the time, the recurring commitment, and the cost of staying stuck longer than necessary, the math usually favors going deeper and getting there faster.

When you choose an intensive, you're not just compressing the timeline — you're getting more of the work that actually moves the needle, with less of the stopping and starting that slows traditional therapy down.

What to Expect from an Intensive Therapy Session

Preparing for your intensive therapy experience.

Before we meet, I’ll ask you to complete a detailed intake questionnaire. This isn’t busywork — it’s how we make sure we’re not spending your intensive hours on background I could have had in advance. Come in knowing what you want to focus on and willing to go there.

During sessions, expect a balance of warmth and directness. I’ll tell you what I’m observing. I’ll challenge you when it serves you. I’ll also support you through the hard parts — because there will be hard parts, and that’s exactly where the change happens.

After an intensive, most people describe feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded. Some things shift dramatically fast. Others need time to integrate. Either way, you’ll leave with something concrete — not just things to think about, but a different felt sense of yourself or your relationship that you carry into daily life.

Interested in an immersive experience? I also offer retreats.

You can travel to the Granite Bay or Roseville, CA area for a therapeutic retreat, with sessions held in my office or on-site at vacation rentals within a 10-mile radius of Granite Bay.

A retreat isn’t just about therapy.

Your time here is designed to help you reset, with everything carefully planned to support your journey. I’ve put together a guide covering how the retreat works, what to bring, and ways to make this a truly therapeutic experience beyond our sessions.

  • We start with a consultation to confirm fit and build your plan, including the recommended length and format. Most retreats run two to three days, though some clients prefer a single intensive day repeated over time — we'll design whatever supports your goals best.

Each day runs three to five hours with breaks built in. You can expect a blend of Relational Life Therapy, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, customized to what you're working on. I may also suggest reflection or integration work to do independently between sessions.

After your retreat, a post-intensive session is available to debrief, track progress, and make sure you feel equipped to move forward. If you're currently working with another therapist, I'm happy to collaborate.

    • A journal or notebook for your thoughts and reflections.

    • Comfortable clothing for both relaxation and light activity.

    • Medications or supplements you take regularly.

    • A list of goals, questions, or concerns to address during the retreat.

    • An open mind and a willingness to engage deeply in the healing process.

    • Commitment to follow-up work with me or your regular therapist post-retreat to integrate and maintain your progress.

  • I encourage out-of-town guests to use their intensive therapy retreat as an opportunity to create a well-rounded, therapeutic experience. Once you book your dates, I’ll provide details on local accommodations, wellness services (like yoga and spa treatments), dining options, and other activities to help you make the most of your time here.

Take time to explore the beauty and culture of the Granite Bay area. After our morning sessions, you can recharge with outdoor adventures such as hiking the scenic Johnny Cash Trail or paddleboarding on the peaceful waters of Lake Natoma. Enjoy delicious meals at local favorites like Dominick's and Farm Haus, or unwind with a wine tasting at Casque Wines or Twin Rocks Winery. If you’re in the mood for history, a short drive will take you to the charming shops and eateries of Old Town Sacramento.

about me

Hi, I’m Audrey.

I believe in showing up authentically, ready to tackle even the most uncomfortable topics with honesty and humor. I’m direct, I don’t sugarcoat, and I’m not interested in dancing around the things that actually need to be said. I work with people who are high-functioning on the outside and ready to stop white-knuckling it on the inside.

If you want someone who will tell you the truth, go deep fast, and help you actually change — that’s what I do.

Change is possible—and it can happen fast.

You don’t have to keep managing this. Let’s get to the root.

Frequently asked questions

  • It’s accelerated therapy — designed to go deeper and get results faster than the weekly model allows. Instead of an hour a week for a year, you carve out a few focused days and do the real work in a concentrated block. Most people accomplish more in one intensive than in months of traditional sessions.

In fact, many people think of Therapy Intensives like a retreat. For those few days, you can unplug, take time off work, get a babysitter, or even stay in a hotel. This time is completely dedicated to you so you can focus on creating real and lasting change.

  • People who are ready for things to actually change. If you’ve been managing a pattern, a stuck relationship, or something you’ve been carrying for years — and you’re done waiting for it to resolve gradually — an intensive is built for you. It’s particularly effective for high-achievers, entrepreneurs, and couples who want results without an open-ended weekly commitment.

  • Yes — and couples are often the best candidates. If you keep having the same fight, reaching the same dead end, or feeling like weekly sessions never quite get there, an intensive changes the dynamic completely. We have the time to actually move.

  • A standard session loses 10–15 minutes on each end to check-in and wrap-up — leaving you 30–40 minutes of real work. A 3-hour intensive gives you closer to 2.5 hours of depth work. That’s the equivalent of five sessions or more in a single day — without losing momentum in between.

  • Traveling clients are welcome. Because virtual sessions require you to be physically located in CA or TX, all sessions need to happen during your time here. To make that work cleanly, intensive days run longer, with the intake woven into the format across your days. After you return home, you'll receive a written integration summary — a detailed clinical document covering key insights, patterns, skills to practice, and recommended next steps. Many clients find this more useful than a single debrief session.

All sessions are held in person in my Roseville office or at a venue within 10 miles of Granite Bay. Reach out for details.
